From zero to funded prop trader.

This is the exact path we recommend to someone who wants to replace their income with prop trading. No background required. It will take weeks, not days. Every step is free.

Start: Algorithmic Trading

The 6-stage path

Do these in order. Don't skip ahead. Every stage has an outcome — only move on once you hit it.

1

Understand what trading actually is

Price formation, who is on the other side of your trade, how markets move. If you skip this, everything else is shortcut-thinking.

Outcome: You can explain a long vs short position, bid/ask, and why price moves, to a friend in 60 seconds.
2

Learn to read charts

Candlestick anatomy, trend, support & resistance, market structure. This is the language — no shortcut to fluency.

Outcome: You can look at any chart and immediately identify trend direction, key levels, and the most recent structure break.
Do Pattern Drills
3

Learn to size positions mechanically

Position sizing is math, not intuition. If you have not sized a trade with the Position Sizer, you are gambling.

Outcome: Every trade you plan has a pre-calculated contract count based on stop distance and risk %.

4

Stress-test your edge (before you risk money)

If your win rate and R-multiple cannot survive 10,000 simulated runs, your edge is not real. This kills most overconfident newcomers.

Outcome: You know the maximum drawdown you should realistically expect — and whether you can survive it emotionally and financially.
Run the Drawdown Simulator
5

Pass a paper challenge

Run a full simulated prop evaluation with real rules, real drawdowns, real targets. Hit the profit target without breaching.

Outcome: You have passed at least one simulated challenge applying the exact process you plan to use in real life.
Start Paper Challenge
6

Buy a real challenge — or keep training

If step 5 succeeded, you are ready for a real prop evaluation. If it did not, go back to step 2 and iterate. Rinse until profitable.

Outcome: You are funded, or you have a clear list of what to improve before you try again.

Hard truths before you start

We'd rather you know this upfront than learn it by blowing accounts.

90% fail. Most because they skip steps 3 and 4.

Blown accounts almost always trace back to ad-hoc position sizing and untested edge. This path exists specifically to block those two failure modes.

Certainty comes from reps, not videos.

You don't learn to read price by watching YouTube. You learn by drilling 200 candle-close decisions. The drills are boring. Do them anyway.

The paper challenge is the real test.

If you cannot pass a free simulated challenge with the exact same rules, you will not pass a real one. The market doesn't care if your money is real.

Consistency > Cleverness.

One simple setup executed the same way 100 times beats five complex setups executed differently every time. Prop firms reward boring traders.

If you actually trade

If you do not have 60 minutes a day to commit, prop trading probably won't work for you. That is not a judgment — it is a math problem. Skills compound slowly and sporadic practice doesn't build reflexes.
